Hi,
I was thinking on how exactly to upgrade my Redhat 9 box - try inplace
upgrade or do a backup of my data and install Fedora afresh. I have a
good amount of RawHide RPMs installed.
Has anybody had any experience upgrading RedHat 9 boxes w/ Fedora and
how seamless the process is ?
What would you recommend ?
I've updated from RH9 -> FC1 (little to no RawHide) on three systems.
The only problems encountered were:
Mozilla & Epiphany crashes from bad ttfonts-xxx update
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=109537
upgrade from RH9 fails leaving both old and new rpm's for ntp
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=110321
Both of these bugs result from upgrade quirks. Clean installs shouldn't
have these problems. Remedies are included in both bugzilla reports.
Also /etc/X11/gdm.conf *disables* X11 tcp connections by defaults.
Edit this file to re-enable (mentioned several times on the list).
Your $HOME/.ooffice may not agree with the previous ooffice version;
Easiest thing is to wipe it out and let ooffice recreate it - again,
discussed on the list.
Overall, I prefer FC1 to RH9.
Have fun!
