I have had XP prevent me from creating a FAT32 partition larger than 32 gig. But since it was an external hard drive, I was able to format it under Windows 98 and use it later under XP. (though it has since been changed to NTFS). I don't know what would happen if I were to do a fresh install of XP to a hard drive, and tried to format it as FAT32.
