Several people on this list have commented about registering with red hat for Fedora. Now when I click on the up2date applet it ask me if I want to register but never really does. It just goes through the motion of checking for updates on the configured channels I have.

I was initially dismayed that rhn-applet phoned home to check *AND* required you to register to do it. It didn't quite make sense. I simply removed it from my installation and did not use it. After reviewing these messages, I have downloaded the "pre-release" version that Daniel posted.

This version of rhn-applet works for me. I created my on yum repositories mirrored from the updates at Redhat and I do not have http redirects on my server. I am not experiencing the problems that some people are. I plan on using my local yum repositories to update workstation installation of FC1. Although the up2date setup is a little different with FC1 than RH9, I'm actually finding it to be less complicated with FC1.

My suggestion would be to make this version of rhn-applet available in the updates as soon as possible. Registration confusion will only get worse the more people start using FC1.
