close all windows where you could have files from the cdrom open.
close all terminal windows where you can have file and directories from
the cd open.

when you are sure there are no windows etc related to the cdrom then
umount.

Subject: Unmouting CDROM ??

Are more people experiencing the problem that a cd can't be unmounted
("eject cd") from Gnome after using it?

When I insert a data-cd, when right-clicking and selecting "eject", I
get an error message telling me the device is busy....

Any ideas?
