Well, I know zilch about PHP, but I have installed Oracle client
on Linux a few times. One thing that leaps out at me is if you're
using 9i you won't have an "oci8" package anywhere on the system.
If (as it appears at a casual glance) PHP is looking for, or at
least expects there to be, a set of oci8 tools on the machine,
I imagine it's going to be disappointed.
