Simon, Try passing aic7xxx=[device options] at boot. Find the valid options in /usr/src/linux-2.4/drivers/scsi/README.aic7xxx like: "aic7xxx=no_probe" - This option will disable the probing for any VLB based 2842 controllers and any EISA based controllers. This is needed on certain newer motherboards where the normal EISA I/O ranges have been claimed by other PCI devices. " You may see other options that address your symptoms in there. --jeremy On Tue, 2003-11-11 at 13:58, Galton, Simon wrote: > Folks, > > At the risk of asking a question you're all sick of hearing (though I > have searched the fedora-list archives)... > > During the install process my SMP system hangs when loading the > aic7xxx driver -- after several hours it does move on, but just > doesn't see drives. > > This reminded me of the problem with RHL 7.x and 8.0, where you had to > get a separate boot floppy image and boot with "linux noapic" or > "linux apic" (I'm forgetting which)... > > Is a similar solution available for Fedora Core 1, or is there > something else I can do? > > Thanks! > S. >
