what you have done is just to make a setting so that gpm console mouse services will not start in the next and stop from subsequent restarts, this is not the way of removing the message. In fact we should discuss that why service stop after restarting for gpm - console service gives an error from going to runlevel 5 to runlevel 0/6 even if service status was running ?

# chkconfig gpm off
should be ok for you if you aren´t working on tty[1-6]
