IMHO, Canon's support of linux is "comme si, comme ça. I would suggest that you have a look at the drivers at ESP (Easy Software Products) <http://www.easysw.com>. Theirs is also a commercial application, but you can download a demo (*fully functional*) version. Once you register with ESP, you will receive a key permitting the demo to be run for one full month.
