I just installed Fedora as an upgrade to RedHat 9.0. I lost my internet connection.
I think the network card is the problem - there have been a few snafu's with the 3com ones.

Duh. You are jumping to conclusions. If you would have read the above quote you could have seen he had the thing working under RH 9.
AFAIK, problems with 3com cards only appear in fedora kernels. But, if this is the problem, update to 2.6 kernel from rawhide will fix it.
