In fact, a file system isn't even necessary as I discovered one > time when I accidentally gave cdrecord a tarball as input rather than the iso > image. No trouble accessing the file thanks to the magic of *nix... just had > to give tar the device rather than mounting it: tar xzf /dev/cdrom. he he. Years ago, SCO Unix (years before the novell deal) used to be distributed in a "CD-Tape" format, i.e., it was just a stream of data as if a tar or cpio file burned directly to CD without benefit of a filesystem. So, just because we're accustomed to a CD containing a filesystem, is no reason why it must do so. -- ---- Fred Smith -- fredex@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------- "For him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy--to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore!
