how are ext3 partitions formatted?

Does Fedora installer use a default "mk2fs.ext3 /dev/sdb1" or does it use different options?

If different options, where can I find this info?

Background info...
I ran into problems when Fedora formated my /home partition. I think these problems are related to setting up a raid5 array which hasn't initialized completely. I temporarily removed the /home partition and now want to reformat it manually. I would like to format it just like Fedora does during install. I looked at the anaconda-ks.cfg file on a similar system which show #part /home --fstype ext3 --size=100 --grow
