FWIW to this thread:

I have seen this too. __But it only happens when I try to eject the cd
with the open button first__, not with the right click menu from the cd
icon or umount. (Sorry, it's force of habit.) Obviously the file system
is still mounted and the cd won't eject. After that the menu does not
work nor does umount by user or root (without the -l option of course),
I get the same message as others: device busy.

I had no probs with RH9. The question is, did RH9 use the -l option in
it's umount/eject routine and fedora doesn't and it's a software bug (as
stated by Damon Fister) or could it be hardware related? In case anyone
thinks this, I have a LG GCC-4320B CD-R/W DVD.

This is a known bug in Fedora, and a real pain if you
use removable media a lot. Try the umount command with
the -l (lazy) option. It seems that trying to unmount
the drive can make it appear to be busy!

umount -l /mnt/floppy

Thank you very much for your help, hopefully this will be resolved
soon :-)

I don't think that it is related to your drive. I have the same problem with a Ricoh CDRW drive.
