Dear lcchang, I'm trying to get my sis900 equipped laptop (Averatec 3120V) to network under Fedora Core 1. Networking worked the very first time I booted after installing FC1, but hasn't worked since. I've seen some mention of this problem with "eth0: Media Link Off" with other linux distributions and I'm wondering if this is the bug "3) The media type change from 10Mbps to 100Mbps twisted-pair ethernet by ifconfig causes the media link down." mentioned in the driver code. Here's the output from dmesg: sis900.c: v1.08.06 9/24/2002 PCI: Found IRQ 11 for device 00:01.1 PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 00:01.6 PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 00:03.0 divert: allocating divert_blk for eth0 eth0: ICS LAN PHY transceiver found at address 1. eth0: Using transceiver found at address 1 as default eth0: SiS 900 PCI Fast Ethernet at 0xd000, IRQ 11, 00:40:45:11:3e:4c. divert: freeing divert_blk for eth0 ip_tables: (C) 2000-2002 Netfilter core team ip_conntrack version 2.1 (1791 buckets, 14328 max) - 292 bytes per conntrack sis900.c: v1.08.06 9/24/2002 PCI: Found IRQ 11 for device 00:01.1 PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 00:01.6 PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 00:03.0 divert: allocating divert_blk for eth0 eth0: ICS LAN PHY transceiver found at address 1. eth0: Using transceiver found at address 1 as default eth0: SiS 900 PCI Fast Ethernet at 0xd000, IRQ 11, 00:40:45:11:3e:4c. eth0: Media Link Off Best Regards, -P. -- Peter L.
