All the kernel howto's I've seen referenced on the web are "down for review". I understand the push for updating for 2.6, but what about those of us who'd like one now? Is compiling going to be that different?
The Kernel-HOWTO is not being reviewed because of the 2.6 kernel, although hopefully something about 2.6 will be included. This HOWTO was removed and is being rewritten as fast as possible because too many complaints were received by the LDP that the document contained inaccurate information and wrong instructions.
A majority of the LDP volunteers decided that it was better to live without this document for a couple of weeks while a new one was put into place than to leave one with too many known errors. For some other sources of information, here are some things you could check out:
