I'm not at all sure about XP, but at least on my Windows 2000 box, if you want to use Internet Connection Sharing then the IP of the gateway *MUST* be set to 192.168.0.1. Absolutely that and no other. I do have this ICS working with Windows 2000 and supporting other Windows machines and a Linux machine (under RH 7, 8, 9, and now Fedora).

Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded
The above is due to lack of permissions.. YOu need to be root to execute/list that.. try sudo?? if you have it in.
The msg I get when I ping is this: 192.168.1.2 icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable
Over and over again, but what I don't get is the ip of the linux box is
192.168.1.2, and the xp box is 192.168.1.1 and I typed "pint 192.168.1.1" in
the console and ^^^ that's what I got!
Pls try to list your iptables.. maybe it's cause of your firewall configs??
would ping 127.0.0.1 work??
