Hi all, I have a HP 720 digital camera, wich works just fine in usb-storage mode. I wanted to use devlabel to handle device renaming when more than one storage devices are plugged in at the same time, but I'm getting strange results... First I plugged in the camera, and everything looked fine: Dec 6 23:19:35 localhost kernel: Attached scsi removable disk sda at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 Dec 6 23:19:35 localhost kernel: SCSI device sda: 250880 512-byte hdwr sectors (128 MB) Dec 6 23:19:35 localhost kernel: sda: Write Protect is off Dec 6 23:19:35 localhost kernel: sda: sda1 Then, I tried to get the UID of the camera: # devlabel printid -d /dev/sda1 [nothing displayed] uhm... # devlabel printid -d /dev/sda S80:0000HPPhotoSmart720 but of course /dev/sda cannot be mounted. So I thought to do another check, invoking directly scsi_unique_id: # scsi_unique_id /dev/sda model: HPPhotoSmart 720 page83: No page83 information found. page80: 0000 # scsi_unique_id /dev/sda1 model: HPPhotoSmart 720 page83: No page83 information found. page80: 0000 What's the problem here? The same camera worked perfectly well with devlabel on RH9 (same system, too). For the moment, I added an entry in fstab hardcoded to /dev/sda1, but I'd prefer a more elegant solution. -- scobianchi[at]racine[dot]ra[dot]it www.cafevalladon.it
