hi, I foolishly deleted /dev/sr0, and lost access to my cd burner. I googled around and recreated the device by doing: mknod /dev/sr0 b 11 0 I then recreated the symbolic cdrom link: ln -s /dev/sr0 /dev/cdrom But I cannot mount the cdrom anymore... I get a bunch of strange kernel errors on /var/log/messages: Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 64 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 487940 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 486916 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 486692 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 487932 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 486908 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 486684 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 487340 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 486316 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 486092 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 487332 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 486308 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 486084 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 400384 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 399360 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 399136 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 400376 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 399352 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 399128 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 399784 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 398760 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 398536 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 399776 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 398752 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 398528 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 1248 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 1024 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: UDF-fs: No partition found (1) Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 64 Dec 3 15:30:39 toottoot kernel: isofs_read_super: bread failed, dev=0b:00, iso_blknum=16, block=16 For what it is worth, my /etc/fstab contains: /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom udf,iso9660 noauto,owner,kudzu,ro 0 0 and /dev/scd0 is: [schuller@toottoot schuller]$ ls /dev/scd0 brw-rw-- 1 root disk 11, 0 Sep 15 23:40 /dev/scd0 When I boot up, it detects the cdrom as normal though: Dec 3 15:20:01 toottoot kernel: hdd: attached ide-scsi driver.
