I used Nero to burn the ISO image to the CD.  I'm gonna also install it on
this computer on the dual boot over the redhat 9, but I havent gotten this
far

Did you burn the iso to the cd or just copy the iso to the cd?

I am not too famliar with Mandrake, but I would assume they also have a cd
burner
