Oops, I didn't read the UML website fully so I didn't notice this
until now:

Excellent! This little hack allows you to even run the installer (at
least of RH8 and RH9) inside UML, so that you can install it to a
virtual hard drive.

Of course, the process could be made more seamless, and it could
probably be hacked further to make it install in graphical mode
- but it's a good start.
