Why?

msp_parts[i] = kzalloc(pcnt * sizeof(struct mtd_partition), GFP_KERNEL);

seems better to me than

msp_parts[i] = kcalloc(1, pcnt * sizeof(struct mtd_partition), GFP_KERNEL);
