crash on using sg and gdth with tape backup

I got two identical easy to trigger crashed when using a tape backup
unit through an ICP vortex SCSI card. Below is the kernel crash dump
from a vanilla 2.6.18 kernel. I have no idea what is causing it.
Will try 2.6.17 series kernel to see if it is related to recent
gdth.c changes.
