pcmciautils Kyocera KPC650

Hi,

I'm trying to get a Kyocera KPC650 pcmcia airmodem card working.
I have an HP SE2000L amd64 Turino laptop running amd64 Gentoo
with kernel-2.6.15-r1 and pcmciautils-013 and for good measure
pcmcia-cs-cis-3.2.8-r1. I also have coldplug-20040920 and
hotplug-20040923-r1 and hotplug-base-20040401

# cat /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6
ndiswrapper
fglrx
ohci_hcd
ehci_hcd
#usbserial vendor=0x0c88 product=0x17da maxSize=2048
usbserial vendor=0x0c88 product=0x17da
ppp_async

# grep YENTA .config
CONFIG_YENTA=y

# grep PCMCIA .config|grep -v "#"
CONFIG_PCMCIA_DEBUG=y
CONFIG_PCMCIA=y
CONFIG_PCMCIA_LOAD_CIS=y
CONFIG_PCMCIA_IOCTL=y
CONFIG_PCMCIA_FDOMAIN=m
CONFIG_PCMCIA_QLOGIC=m
CONFIG_PCMCIA_SYM53C500=m
CONFIG_NET_PCMCIA=y

# grep USB_SERIAL .config|grep -v "#"
CONFIG_USB_SERIAL=m
CONFIG_USB_SERIAL_GENERIC=y

I have activated this card in WindowsXP and connected properly to
Verizon's EVDO VZAccess network. But I can't get the card to be recognized
under linux (The blue led light does not light up)

# pccardctl status
Socket 0:
  3.3V 32-bit PC Card
# pccardctl info
PRODID_1=""
PRODID_2=""
PRODID_3=""
PRODID_4=""
MANFID=0000,0000
FUNCID=255

When I eject the card I get the following error message:
PCMCIA: socket ffff810017ac6048: *** DANGER *** unable to remove socket power

So I followed the suggestions in the mini-howto
<http:www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/kernel/pcmcia/howto.html>
and the suggestions at ~/pcmcia.html#mailinglist

# lspci -v|grep subordinate
        Bus: primary=00, secondary=01, subordinate=01, sec-latency=64 Bus:
primary=00, secondary=05, subordinate=05, sec-latency=64 Bus:
primary=05, secondary=06, subordinate=09, sec-latency=176
which looks OK since my yenta_socket is 0000:05:09.0

I also tried the ~/powerbugs.html#2 suggestions
and added reserve=0xc020a000,0x5000 to my kernel cmd line.

At this point I don't know how to proceed next.
Everything I've tried has failed.
But I know others have gotten this card to work on
other linux laptops.

So is this a bug or something that I've neglected to do?
THANKS.
