IIRC, ide-scsi is deprecated and would be removed as a fix for this bug. Note
that ide-scsi is known to be broken in more ways than just this-- for
example, unloading the module causes a kernel panic.

I'm not a kernel developer, but my understanding is that they're basically
passed through the ATAPI layer.
