Treason uncloaked! Peer shrinks window caused by rsync or drivers?

Hi List,

I'm posting here first since I've seen these messages elsewhere not
using rsync, but my specific problem today is with rsync on Linux 2.6 ->
Linux 2.6.

I've gotten these messages for a while now, but this is the first time
where they've actually affected the data transfer that I've noticed, so
I decided to post about it. I have two servers, connected via gigE link
through a switch. FWIW, I've also had it happen via gigE crossover
cable as well on different hosts (still Linux 2.6).

Attempting to copy large amounts of data in small files ends up (now?)
with rsync hanging or continuing very slowly. Before I'd get these
messages but rsync would continue. I haven't been able to narrow what
changed when the rsync started to become slow.

All hosts (4 totally separate boxes) are 2.6.13.3 or 2.6.13.4. Network
card lspci -v output is listed at the end of the message. Is it
possible that there's a bug in one of the drivers (maybe e1000 for
82541GI) or is this just a bug in rsync that needs fixed?

Thanks for any input,
Dale
