Yes, I'm running XFree86. Thank you for the patches.
I'm going to try without X and the different patches Friday.

Unfortunately, my system froze today with the 2.6.12.4 kernel in the same
manner (black screen), and it's *not* reproducible: I've just read a pdf
with gv...
