text with 8-char tabs:

struct s {
        int n;          /* comment */
        unsigned int u; /* comment */
};

Same text viewed with tabs set to 4-char width:

struct s {
    int n;      /* comment */
    unsigned int u; /* comment */
};

Comments are not aligned anymore
