Come to think of it, it could be a problem if the comnpiler was silly and
built an entire temporary on the stack and the copied it over.  Hopefull it
won't do that.

This patch addresses the following minor issues:

  - Typo in printk
  - Redundant casts
  - Use C99 struct initializers instead of memset
  - Parenthesis around return value
  - Use inline instead of __inline__
