VIA Rhine ethernet driver bug (any progress?)

Hello,

Did anyone make progress in the case of the VIA Rhine ethernet bug?

It gives messages like:

Apr 8 18:51:08 epia kernel: eth1: Oversized Ethernet frame spanned multiple
buffers, entry 0x9 length 0 status 00000600!
Apr 8 18:51:08 epia kernel: eth1: Oversized Ethernet frame cca77090 vs
cca77090.
Apr 8 18:51:08 epia kernel: eth1: Oversized Ethernet frame spanned multiple
buffers, entry 0xa length 0 status 00000400!
Apr 8 18:51:08 epia kernel: eth1: Oversized Ethernet frame cca770a0 vs
cca770a0.

[....]

Apr 8 18:51:08 epia kernel: eth1: Oversized Ethernet frame spanned multiple
buffers, entry 0x7 length 0 status 00000400!
Apr 8 18:51:08 epia kernel: eth1: Oversized Ethernet frame cca77070 vs
cca77070.
Apr 8 18:51:08 epia kernel: eth1: Oversized Ethernet frame spanned multiple
buffers, entry 0x8 length 24436 status 5f748d10!
Apr 8 18:51:08 epia kernel: eth1: Oversized Ethernet frame cca77080 vs
cca77080.

Most of the time the ethernet connection is gone and needs and ifconfig
down/up or reboot to make it work again.
I see this error on a VIA EPIA CL-6000 board. Using google I see the
mentionings of the error messages in relation to VIA Rhine go back to 1999.
The other side of eth1 is an Alcatel Speedtouch Home. With different
firewall hardware (Tulip DT5/xxx but same Alcatel) I did not see the errors.

Any ideas? A patch to gather more info so the bug can be fixed?
Etc?

Please post!
