This is nice.  Now to try something like that with my Epson StylusPhoto R260.  Then I can get rid of one other reason to bring up the Windows VM....

Use the tips from this article http://www.epsondevelopers.com/documents/CDDVDTemplate.pdf to print from other applications such as Inkscape. I place a 43mm white inner circle on the top layer of my projects to prevent printing in that area.

Question: for Epson Artisan 810, what is the tray type? 1 or 2? Where might I go to find that out?

I don't know. You might try contacting Epson tech support or you can experiment; i.e. use the offsets for a Type 2 tray, put a piece of card stock or the sample provided with the printer on the CD carrier and print.
