I haven't seen this since the pre-journaled-filesystem days, but my root
file system was corrupt. Rebooting the system (and fsck'ing the root
file system) has fixed a lot of this. I can now run updates but I still
get dependency errors like this:

ktorrent-4.0.4-1.fc14.i686 has missing requires of libktcore.so.11

This was fixed by installing the ktorrent-libs package.

So I am now back in a more familiar dependency hell (not seen since the
pre-yum days).
