This is not an authentication problem, it's a IPv6 DNS problem (and most 
people still don't even have/use IPv6, mplayer should fallback to IPv4 in your 
case).

You are probably using wrong syntax to invoke mplayer. Send us the exact 
command line you used (with username and password substituted with **** if you 
are paranoid enough), and we will probably be able to tell you how to invoke 
mplayer properly.
