The OP wants to disable the presentation of the splash page/graphics
during boot. Removing "quiet" will not do that.
Removal of "rhgb" (formerly known as Red Hat Graphical Boot) will.

Had the same question. I used to press Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to exit graphical boot when I need it. So, thanks a lot.
By the way, what 'quiet' stands for?
