it would seem that you are not allowing grub to be installed or are
installing in the wrong location so you can boot. You could boot from
DVD in rescue mode and then when you are at command prompt, type...

chroot /mnt/sysimage
grub-install /dev/sda
exit
exit

and you should be able to boot
