Bonjour,

I have problem with dead keys (^ and ¨) on my French azerty keyboard in
emacs.

These keys do not work: ^a gives a instead of â.

This problem happens in emacs and is *not* an emacs config problem for
other users on the same machine do not have this problem.

I tried after disabling .emacs and .Xresouces files. Problem is still there.

Culprit is imsettings!!!! What is imsettings:

Description :
IMSettings is a framework that delivers Input Method
settings and applies the changes so they take effect
immediately without any need to restart applications
or the desktop.

Isn't that where you would want to make the changes? Doesn't IMSettings apply to text consoles as well?

Bravissimo!

yum remove imsettings is the solution.... All scim packages are
uninstalled....

Packages for typing scripts with diacritical marks like.... ^ and ¨

Strange! Isn't it?
