Peter and Tom, and others who've experienced bug#492154 (Partition map
has no partition map entry).

Chris Lumens feels confident in a fix but would like some feedback. If
you have some time, please download the latest rawhide boot.iso [1] and
attempt to reproduce the bug. You can pass along your findings directly
in the bug report at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=492154,
or on the list here.

FWIW, today's rawhide seems to succeed on the "use whole disk" case.
I'm currently reinstalling OSX so that I can try the other cases;
will report to the bz entry when done. It looks promising though.

Now, if only the X11 guys would fix my other problem (#494420) ...
the text-only install mode leaves a lot to be desired in terms of
flexibility.

Have you tried booting with "vga=ask" yet? That works for me, even on my problem system.
