I took the emacs23 version from CVS, and built it from source. It
required 'nmh' to be installed though:

  sudo yum install nmh
  cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx:/sources/emacs co
-r emacs-unicode-2 emacs
  cvs update -A
  ./configure
  make

I can now use GTK+ fonts within Emacs.
