Take a look at the repoquery and yum manpages and use those tools to
follow the dependencies.

I don't think filing bugs is warranted until you have some evidence
that the dependencies are incorrect.  Are there places where
dependencies can be trimmed down?  I'm sire there are.  But I don't
think you'll find that any maintainers are adding deps just for the
fun of it.
