ok. and i apologizes. too long and a few brains cells have recessed on that
one.

but what it is is that you need to check 'exit code'. this is a code to show
status of exiting a command.

what you want to do in your script is test code for a non 0 [zero].

i looked back thru my scripts on this box and i am not using it. i have them in
scripts on other box, which is down now and i can not readily bring it up. by
time i bring it up, surely some one else, if not cameron, will give you an
answer. knowing what it is, you may find it yourself. if not, i will bring
system up and have a look.
