yum install vlc. This has been a simple task once you enable the livna
repo. But I screwed up. Almost the first thing I did was set up vlc. It
worked fine. But then I wanted to remove all the pulseaudio files that
were left over. I used yum remove pulseaudio and it had a long list of
things to remove, which it did. Alas it removed vlc too.

    But not totally it seems. Here is what happens when I try yum
install vlc:

[root@localhost ~]# yum install vlc

    This makes me think vlc-core is still on my computer but I can't
find it and rpm will not erase it:
[root@localhost ~]# rpm -qi vlc-core.i386 0:0.8.6d-3.lvn8
package vlc-core.i386 is not installed
package 0:0.8.6d-3.lvn8 is not installed

"vlc-core" is a new package introduced with this update, split off of
"vlc". Yes, yum's message is misleading.

    I can't figure it out. Why is yum needing to update a missing rpm?
By the way I also tried yum clean all.

Do you have any conflicting repositories enabled?

I thought freshrpm might be conflicting so I moved it out. No change. Also I used this and it is not installed:

rpm -qi x264-0:0-0.10.20070819.lvn8.i386
package x264-0:0-0.10.20070819.lvn8.i386 is not installed

So still a mystery to me :-)
