I haven't tried it yet (F7 -> F8), but I remember on one of my systems
it required something like several hours to resolve dependencies.  It
eventually worked.  I thought it was hung up also, but it was late and I
just decided to deal with it in the morning.  I woke up to it busily
upgrading.
