Try adding the following lines to your /etc/modprobe.conf:
options snd-hda-intel index=0
options snd-hda-intel model=3stack

Then reboot and tell me if it did work. My audio device is 82801G (ICH7 
Family, rev 02). It's one version earlier than yours, but I think it's 
basically the same device. It did not "just work" when I installed 
Fedora, but it's working now after these changes.
