RE: fedora 6 kernel panic issues

I am still having issues with this, the machine just keeps crashing with
either kernel errors or Journal errors.  It was suggested to me to hook
up a serial cable to the machine to get more detailed kernel debugs.  I
have the cable, but I don't know how to set it up.  Can anyone explain
that to me?

Correct, as smartctl reported:

and none of the "WHEN FAILED" column was checked.

That all seems sound thinking.  Don't forget the cables.
