I'm not in any way saying that it's the kernel team's fault, but one
reason VMware won't reconfigure with the new kernel is because of
changes to kernel headers that make them incompatible with the C++
vmware uses. In particular,
/usr/src/kernels/2.6.22.1-27.fc7-i686/include/asm-i386/page.h uses
anonymous struct initializers in a C++-incompatible way.

In fact, the latest vmware-any-any patch looks like it is
http://knihovny.cvut.cz/ftp/pub/vmware/vmware-any-any-update112.tar.gz,
and it works for me.
