I grew up in the tough districts of south and west Texas,

Now we understand why you're such a pugilist

I bet he knows where Dixie Blvd is in Odessa. That was my first purchase

I've been to Odessa and Midland both, but never lived in either of
them. I lived in Seminole, about 70 miles SW of Lubbock, 36 miles
from Hobbs, New Mexico, and 6 miles from the Texas/New Mexico border.
Also about 70 miles or so from Odessa. I wonder how a town in west Texas
came to be given a russian name.

of a home and the usual landing spot for the cars driven by drunks when
they failed to navigate the dog-leg in the street just in front of the
house. But, all the roughnecks I met were pretty peaceable people.
Unless you got stupid... <cackles> Ric

I worked a a roughneck for a summer job one year in college. But that
was farther south, near Eagle Pass. Later, I lived in Crystal City,
the home of the Raza Unida, a racist bunch of communists. In fact,
for a while I lived in a garage apartment which was the home of the
Partida Raza Unida and where it all started, when they did the march.
I recall a woman I knew down there who was "on the lam" from Italy,
being a member of the Italian branch of the Red Guard there (what did
they call that? can't recall now), and who fled to Cuba, then
came over to Crystal City in order to help them learn the teaching
methods used in Cuba, and import them into the school system. She was
an "illegal alein" in the employ of the school system :-)

The year I lived there, the whole city had the gas cut off for
non-payment, and got Federal funds to ship in LP gas by truck.
It was also the first time since around 1964 (the year of the
march) that anyone not a member of the communist party got
elected to a place in the city council.

You have found the bank of Larn.
I can explain it for you, but I can't understand it for you.
I speak only for myself, and I am unanimous in that!
