Limit on SCSI Adapter Numbers?

Hello -

I posted earlier this week but believe I used the wrong terminology in asking my question.  I am using FC6.

Q:  Is there a limit on the number of SCSI adapter numbers that can be given out?  If so, what happens when the limit is reached?

When I say SCSI adapter number, I am referring to the number I see in /proc/scsi/scsi in the 'Host' field.
Example:
[john@xxxxx john]$ cat /proc/scsi/scsi
Attached devices:
Host: scsi304 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
  Vendor: AT921093 Model: 1AS              Rev: 3.01
Type:   Direct-Access                    ANSI SCSI revision: 02

So in this case the number is 304.  Everytime I plug in a new device, the number gets incremented.  Is there a limit?  I am going to be plugging in hundreds/thousands of devices without every rebooting my computer.

Thanks!
John
