The default clock applet in KDE allows you to set a list of places you wish to
see the time for when mouse hovers over it. Additionaly a right click allows
you to change the default zone displayed - useful when you take your laptop
on the road.

It may be possible to run the kde clock applet under gnome.

How about using a widget from Konfabulator (Yahoo Widgets).
