It may be that the part of the disc used for Fedora's GRUB has a
problem, but not where Ubuntu is located.  To save yourself some future
grief, I'd test your hard drive out.  If the drive is going bad, things
can get worse, much worse, and surprisingly quickly.  Look at the
manufacturer's website for something to do this properly.
