What about the subtitles?

Mount the dvd and use:

vobcopy -m

That will copy (and decrypt if you have libdvdcss installed) to a local directory.

I have used it with subtitled discs and it preserves the subtitles and menues.

You can use xine to play it by giving it the path to where the VIDEO_TS directory was written.

xine dvd:///path/to/disccopy
