sounds like a posibility, I will check this out in the morning.
I have looked at the disk and it looks set correctly as device 0 master.
I did unplug the cable as I had to move the cable as the drive was
plugged into the middle conector and I had to change that to reach the
new drive.

I have also noticed that since plugging in my testing drive (currently
FC6) it seems fine.

problem in that i hadn't plugged in the data cable completely, and that i
hadn't properly configured the master/slave jumpers completely.
