From windows I'm using an odd program called USBPhoneForSkype which
uses Skype to dial out from a generic USB phone.  It's branded,
apparently, "USB phone" on the packaging even!  Reminds me of those
beer cans labeled "beer".

I'm probably going to buy the phone at

purely because it does the exact same thing from linux.  Ironically,
the phone I'm going to buy can also work with x-lite for SIP calls,
but there's no linux driver to make x-lite work with the phone.  Of
course, x-lite runs on linux.

Weirdness.
